Compliance Dismissals

Below is a list of violations that are eligible for a compliance dismissal and the conditions required.  

If eligible, you can submit your proof in person or by regular mail: 9400 Municipal Parkway Garden Ridge, TX 78266.  With your proof you will also need to pay the fee associated with the compliance dismissal, which can be done in person, or by mail.  All proof and/or payment of fees must be submitted (or postmarked if by mail) on or before the appearance date on your citation.
 
IMPORTANT:  All requests through correspondence must include:
  1. Photo ID
  2. Signature (by handwritten request or on the attached plea portion of citation)
  3. Plea of guilty or no contest
  4. Current phone number
  5. Current mailing address

OFFENSE TIME TO COMPLY REQUIRED CONDITIONS FEE
Expired Vehicle Registration
Within 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.
Must show proof that the registration was renewed and the late penalty was paid to the county assessor-collector.

Unregistered Motor Vehicle
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect was remedied or proof that the vehicle had a registration insignia that was valid at the time of the offense.

Wrong Registration Insignia Displayed
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect was remedied.

Less Than 2 License Plates Displayed
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.
Must show proof that the defect was remedied.

Altered or Obscured License Plate
Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.Must show proof that the defect was remedied and that the plates displayed at the time of the offense were valid.$10
Expired Driver’s LicenseWithin 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.Must show proof that the defect was remedied.$20
Failure to Update Address or Name on Driver’s LicenseWithin 20 working days of the offense.Must show proof that the defect was remedied.$20 
Violate Driver’s License Restriction or EndorsementBefore the defendant’s initial appearance date.Must show proof that the restriction or endorsement was due to a condition that has been surgically or medically corrected before the date of the offense OR in error and shows proof that the endorsement has been removed.$10
Defective Equipment (Non-CMV)Before the defendant’s initial appearance date.Must show proof that the defect was remedied.$10
Vehicle Not Registered in TexasWithin 20 working days of the offense or before the defendant’s initial appearance date, whichever is later.Must show proof that the registration was obtained.  No late penalty required.$20
