From Our Mayor
Jay F. Feibelman
In the December City Council Meeting, I obligated to contact our legislators in Austin, requesting legislation be introduced regarding hard rock quarry mining in the State of Texas. Enclosed in this mailing is a copy of the paper (authored by Bob Gunnarson, Quarry Commission Chairman) and hand carried to Austin by myself, the City Administrator, and Mayor Pro Tem. Additionally I personally spoke with Representative Nathan Macias regarding this issue. He is supportive. The paper was also emailed to officials. Note the Northeast Partnership, of which Garden Ridge is a member, is also supportive of this legislation. Texas has gone too long without guidelines governing these operations!
Thank you for your support.

Thanks!
Barbara and I want to express our sincerest and deepest gratitude to the Bracken Volunteer Fire Department for their outstanding performance in keeping our home from being a total loss from our recent house fire.
Many of the firemen took life threatening chances by going inside a flaming house in order to help extinguish an almost uncontrollable fire, as well as removing some valuables from within the house. Thanks also to the support of the Schertz, Cibolo, and Bulverde Fire Depts., and also, the Garden Ridge Police for their help.
We appreciate the generous contribution of the Garden Ridge Lions Club to the Bracken Fire Dept., in our behalf. Last, but not least, to all of you for the many offerings of help, letters, cards, etc. We are extremely grateful.
Sincerely,
Karl Scholze

Quarry Commission
Needs Citizen Assistance
To assist the Quarry Commission in its mission, it is important for the commission to understand the impact of the quarry on the entire city. The Commission needs citizens to complete and submit reports to City Hall to provide a clear picture of the impact of quarry operations on the city. The Commission needs to know about minimal blasts as well as those that cause concerns. This is especially important as the quarry has been and will be mining in new areas.
The Citizen/s Blast Report form may be obtained at City Hall or in pdf format.
Please use this form to provide the Quarry Commission with information about your experience with Quarry blasts.
Read more about the quarry and the Quarry Commission or check the next Quarry Commission meeting schedule.
