From Our Mayor
Jay F. Feibelman
As we continue to grow, the city by definition becomes more and more sophisticated and many of the “Mom and Pop” activities are going away to more stringent enforcement of rules to maintain property values and our way of life. One thing remains constant: Volunteerism! When something needs to be done for the good of the city or for residents, there is never a shortage of those stepping to the plate. In January, with the arrival of the 2009 phone books a means of delivery had to be established as the cost to mail was exorbitant. Enter the Garden Ridge Lions. On January 30th approximately 35 Lions hit the streets and delivered about 1350 books.
Thanks Lions!

Knotty Knotters
Have a Knack for Kindness
In 2009 the Knotty Knotters, a special interest group of the Garden Ridge Women’s Club, made 70 items for "Threads of Love", sponsored the "Holiday A'Fair", and donated $3,800 to Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program, $450 to the Garden Ridge Library and $2,400 to the Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County. Also, they made 26 decorated Christmas stockings for the "New Life Center." These efforts were in addition to socializing and learning new skills at their monthly meetings. If you are interested in becoming a “Knot” or just have questions about the Knotty Knotters,

LIBRARY ANNUAL BOOK SALE
Saturday, March 13th, the same day as the city-wide Garage Sale. Stop by to find incredible bargains.
Last month we have purchased or had donated 19 new audio books, to our expanding collection including popular authors like James Patterson, Jodi Picoult, Debbie Macomber and others. Also, we purchased 15 new large print books from authors such as Vince Flynn, Debbie Macomber, Jayne Ann Krentz and Heather Graham.
The library just received a very generous donation of 74 brand new books and over 300 CDs, many of which have never been opened! They include a large Jazz collection, Big Band greats, classical, country and even some children’s selections. They are selling for only $1.00. Come in and browse.
For our science fiction enthusiasts we received a donation of 12 paperbacks in nearly new condition. They are the Dragon Lance series by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman, including “The Legends”, “The Chronicles”, and “The Second Generation”. They are for sale for $0.50 each.
We ask anyone with a dorm or bar-sized refrigerator to consider donating to the library. It would be much appreciated.
Library’s Winter Hours

Curves Annual Food Drive
Please bring any non-perishable food items to Curves (18771 FM 2252 - Bracken Village) for the 2010 Annual Food Drive. Last year, the Curves in Garden Ridge collected nearly 800 pounds of food that was donated to Daily Bread Ministries.
We are excited to announce that our goal for 2010 is to collect and donate 1200 pounds of non-perishable food items. We can't do this without your help! In an effort to increase the amount collected, we are waiving the initial service fee (savings of $200) for any women wanting to join, when a donation is made during the month of March. For more information, please call us at (210) 651-9500.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement over the past 4 years, and we're excited to kick off the 2010 Curves Food Drive! Hope to see you soon.
Thank you,
Katy Rozell
