From Our Mayor
Jay F. Feibelman
As many know, as I write this we are in the worst draught in our history with a gloomy forecast for the near future. Without significant rainfall, it can be expected that we will soon enter draught restrictions which will be well publicized. In the meantime, one way to effectively conserve is to set your sprinkler systems to manual. The grass now, as it lies dormant, does not need systematic watering. Please do what you can to conserve and we will continue to apprise all of conditions and restrictions as they occur.

Welcome to Garden Ridge

GOOD INFO!
Here’s a number worth putting in your cell phone or your home phone speed dial:
1-800-goog411 This is an awesome service from Google, and it’s free - great when you are on the road. Don’t waste your money on information calls and don’t waste you time manually dialing the number. I am driving along in my car and I need to call the golf course but don’t know the number. I hit the speed dial for information that I have programmed. The voice on the other end says, “City & State”. I say “Garland, Texas”. The phone says “Business, Name or Type of Service”? I say “Firewheel Golf Course”. The phone says, “Connecting” and Firewheel answers the phone. How great is that? This is nationwide and it is absolutely free! Go to the website below and watch a short clip with a demonstration. http://www.google.com/goog411.

An Open Letter
Hi, my name is Hailey Ballard and I am 8 years old. I live in Garden Ridge and I am so lucky to be playing on a soccer team that practices at Garden Ridge Park. At the park there is a nice big space of land where we can play and have fun practicing soccer. Now if you have a brother or sister, there is a big playground where they can play when we are practicing. The grass is kept nice and short. It’s a nice place to play soccer and I really like it. Thanks to the City of Garden Ridge for letting us play at the park. Thanks to Coach Mike, Coach Katie, and Coach Dave for helping us learn how to play soccer and maybe someday play in a championship. We’re really glad to have our soccer team, the Ravens and we’re having a great time.
